I first met Deepfunk maybe 4 or 5 years ago when we played together in Malta, where he is from.
The party was great, we both played well, yada yada yada, shit got messy. I was asked by someone if I had ever tried Miaow Miaow, to which I responded first with, "Is that a joke?" and then "No, may I please have some." The events events that followed are still quite unclear to me, but I definitely remember that the pullover I had worn that night went missing and was somehow replaced with THE Sweater. THE sweater can only be described as the single most genius article of mens clothing to ever have existed. It's a simple black sweater accept for the fact that it is covered in metallic golden poetry woven into it. Beautiful words such as "D&G", "Tony Montana" and "Miami Cocaine Business" cover not only the front, but also the back of this masterpiece.
Needless to say that whomever gets to where this garment is instantly the life of the party and shortly thereafter, quite laid. This is the reason that no one can ever own THE sweater and that it must be shared by all of mankind. After several years with the Beachcoma crew in Berlin, it is now in the loving care of the Studio Barnhus boys in Stockholm.
So it is with great pride that we welcome Deepfunk into the loving embrace of the Beachcoma family with his wonderful new release Mistakes Are Blue. The title track starts things off perfectly with it's layers of distorted pads and arpy bassline. Freud And The Oceanic Feeling might be my favourite of the two however, with it's gentle squelches and haunting, brassy lead line. This is the kind of music we love to see these days. Slow, steady, subtle and slightly sad. Give this a listen, let it grow on you, and for god's sake stay off the Miaow Miaow!

A good release with slow-moving, yet unstoppable beats, dualistic for traffic jams or highway speeding; a cool head with boiling blood. Great for driving around in during sunset when the streetlights and gas stations starting sparking across the land, guiding and drifting turns. Or duking it out on a punching bag, cramped inside an apartment or freed in a warehouse, letting loose an animal of fury when no one's looking. 10/10 Dawad's remix killed my car's stereo.
